Wednesday Wish List!

Wednesday is here, and I'm listing it!  WWL round 8?  Really?  Some days it feels as if I've been blogging for years.  It seems each time I put in a number of times I've posted a series, I can't believe it hasn't been more.  Is that a good thing? I suppose it is as long as I want to keep coming back to post.

I'm loving this WWL, with it's sass and comfort combined with elegance.  Well, I think so anyway :)  It's perfect to wear out on a Double Date Night with your other friends 'n' hubsters, or vice versa.
Hope you like it.

Double Date Night!

I love Wednesday.

Weekend Wonderfuls in Pictures

I have erased what I was going to blog about today, several times. Written and rewritten. Nothing sounded right, no matter what I tried to write. I had great subject ideas, but I just couldn't put my mind to it to have it make sense. Life seems to just hand me rotten lemons lately, no matter how many bags of lemons I buy. Believe me, I'm digging deep trying find a good one, or even one I can slice to find some good pieces of.  So, there I sat at 1:00am, finally writing this paragraph. Who knows what time I'll actually get this done.  Nibbling on goldfish crackers, listening to Pandora. Ehhh, poop. Processed food, late night, not a good morning ahead when I awake. IF I get to sleep!

At least I have my little kiddies with me, no matter where I am.  Lucy is on my Spa bed in my skin/craft room, and Chewy is never too far behind.  They had a full-fun-packed weekend, and they are tired today!

So, I'm going to move right into the picture weekend I had with family, and bring something positive to this post. Forgive my ho-hum-bumming attitude.  Enjoy!
Boardwalk fun with the cutest kiddies, B & B.  Caramel popcorn, still warm in the bucket as we walk along the boards. Chalkboard fun on our beach house walls. We even did Cape May County Zoo!
This is mommy of the kiddies, Jackie, carrying #3, "B" :) We hit Bongo's for lunch. B & B loved the hubster. Of course he's a kid himself, so they got along great. We did Gillian's Wonderland for rides.  Another photo from the Zoo!

I showed little Missy B, how to be Miss. Napkin Face.  That was a big hit!  Look at her attitude.  (Did you see The Holiday with Jude Law, Jack Black, Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, and how he did Mr. Napkin face with his kids?) So fun.  Photo of my handsome son, Ryan, with little Mr. B.  Rides and more rides!!

Portobello burger, topped with zucchini butter, asparagus, shrimp to die for, & gotta have the veggie baked beans

We ate healthy, for the most part. Minus the twizzlers, the caramel corn, Mallons Sticky Buns, Fritos, ok I can't tell you anymore on that.  I promise, I didn't eat all of that stuff, just some of it.  Ok, I fell off the wagon BIG TIME. I still had my green smoothies and lots of water and fruit. Honest :)

And, we had a sunset moment.  It was beautiful, I haven't seen a sunset in a long time.  Wow, I've really been missing the beauty of the quiet calm.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!!

Tryin' to keep it positive, xo

Blog Stalking Sundays, #9!

Welcome back, to my BSS Monday!

I trust everyone had a lovely weekend!?! It's been a nice extra-long weekend for me, making some new memories with fun family at the beach.  The weather was beautiful.  The ride home was another story! Lots of rain and a long ride with hours of 2-mph traffic. A two-hour ride took nearly 6-hours.  Nice to be home safe and dry.

I just had to share that little tid-bit of info.  Now, on with the fun stuff! Stalking blogs is my favorite pastime.  The first blogger I'm sharing my stalking shout-out with is:

Enjoy the View ~ dream big ~ laugh lots ~ wear high heels Well, yeah!  I need to wear more high heels, for sure.  I do have enough of them.  I just get stuck in that ease of flip-flop livin' in the Spring and Summer months.  It's so much more relaxing. Kim.  She inspires me to do the things I've been wanting to do with my DIY projects, still, I procrastinate.  Well, that's not fair to myself, to say.  I actually have multiple things started, then I get involved in daily life, good/bad/indifferent (that's for a book to write), and I just get carried away, from my projects.  I'm going to tackle things this week.  For sure.  Sure.

Those Creepy Crawley's really aren't that creepy at all. They are adorable though.  Reading Layna's posts, you can feel her energy and happiness.  Her story is cute.  Married young, and quick...their wedding photos are beautiful! Go there, and get happy!

Kelly In The City Okay, this girl is so cute.  Go to her blog, and see what I'm talking about.  Smiles, nothin'but'em, she's adorable.  Kelly is all about fashion and wears it all very well!  To prove it, she is featured in magazine after magazine.  I hope I get to run into her at our (same) favorite beach some time.  (hint, hint)

Aren't they all great!  They really are.  I hope you find the time to go visit and spend some time at each one.  There is a lot to see and read, and I know they would love for you to stop by!

Have a happy Monday!

Leave some love,

Ipsy and Beauty Box 5

Ciao Bella!!  I received my 3rd Ipsy box.  I have to say I'm pleased, not crazy about the matte lip color stick, but it was a decent month.  Since it is my 3rd, and I kinda' said I'd make a decision after the 3rd of each box, I'll need to compare this to all the other 3rd's that come in.

Getting to it:

Pop Beauty, Pouty Pop Crayon  Very matte and bright pink for me.  I put some gloss over it and it looked much better, but I'll give it away.

Nailtini Nail color in Mai Tai.  I put this on 2-days ago and it has stayed on pretty well.  I do like the nice bright summery color.

Sexy Hair Soy Renewal beach spray.  Conditioning and texturizing.  I did try this and I was pleased with the results.  I'm not sure it is all that conditioning, but it did what I wanted my curly hair to do on a hot humid day.

Coola This is a mineral face, rose tinted moisturizer.  I haven't tried it, probably won't. Only because I'm loyal to my usual brand.  If I used all the things I've received in samples, I'd probably break out is a million gazillion pimples.

BH Cosmetics California Collection eyeshadow samples.  Although the colors of purple and goldish brown and yellow look bright, they go on very soft.  I've used them as a muted liner.  Works well.

On Wednesday I received my 2nd, Beauty Box 5!

I must say there is a nice box of goodies here.  Especially...

Be A Bombshell lip gloss! Loving it.  The name is kiss off.  So, guess what I get to tell peeps that are annoying me...yup, uh-huh.  I'll get away with it too :)

Every Beauty foot smoother. I know this seems like, "oh wow, gee, that's nice", BUT, my feet are pretty darn nice.  I'll admit it.  Hey, when dozens of people tell you "you have pretty feet" throughout your life, you stand proud!  I take care of my feet, never walk barefoot, can't even handle it in the house.  They're soft and pretty. Don't hate. I'll admit I wouldn't pay the retail of $8.99 for this, when I can get one just as good in the $1 store. Yes, there are some things I'll go to the less expensive stores to purchase.  Why not?

Jean Pierre Cosmetics nail polish remover wipes.  Eh.  I mean really, we paint our nails with a base coat of clear (sometimes), then 2-3 coats of color, then (if you're like me) a quick-dry top coat of clear.  I hardly think one-wipe will remove all of that 'with one wipe'. Although maybe 10 will do.

La Fresh Travel lite antibacterial wipes.  I'll take several dozen of these.  Can't go wrong carrying these travel-friendly wipes with you. Send me more, please!

Airelle Age defying facial serum.  Ok.  I'm an esthetician, and I've seen the front and back of this arena. I am very skeptical about products, even the ones I use regularly, to be honest.  Any product I've used, I've seen none to minor results.  I always think with these samples of serums, they've put the powerful stuff in these little samples.  When you buy the larger retail size, they take out all that good stuff and by then you psychologically think its working.  Ha!  For all the layers of skin we have, "oh, don't get me going!"  Watch for the selling words, "encourage new cell growth", "reverse the signs of aging" (doubt that honey).  Hey, I'll be fair and try it.  I will definitely come back with my remarks on this one.  Some day, I'll even share my skincare knowledge with you.  Oh happy days!

That's my Friday send off!  Enjoy your weekend.  I'm out enjoying mine as you read this post!  Stop back Monday for the Blog Stalking Sundays post!

Cheers, XOX

What a DIP!

Recently I was at a family gathering for two cute little nephews.  "C" was turning 3, and "K" was Baptized.  It was a fun day with great family and great weather.

I brought a dish, Mango Salsa with Cilantro!  What a dish.  So frigging good, no one could stop eating it.  Is it rude if the 'bringer' eats most of their dish? Everyone was eating it. Yum, yum. So I'm sharing it with you, and I know if you try it and you like mango, you will absolutely love this dish!  Plus, I love cilantro. You'll want to like cilantro, to make this dish.  I never did, but it grew on me over the years.

I have this book called, Delicious Dips!

There are some pages tagged in the book, but I don't remember actually making anything from it.  Hhmmm, maybe a cheese thingy. I have a few cookbooks, and have hardly made any of the recipes in them.  Does this happen to most of us?  If I do, I always tweak them and at times have to improvise if I don't have an ingredient.  That's when the dish always comes out best.  For me anyway.

For this dish I intentionally bought all the ingredients, of course.  It's a quick preparation.

And THAT (down there), is the result...delicious and naturally sweet! Even the teaspoon of salt it calls for I reduced to 1/4, if that.  I just don't like too sweet or adding much salt to anything I make.  For best results with this, cover and let it chill for at least 8-hours before serving.  Remove it from the refrigerator 45 minutes before serving, you don't want it ice cold.  We had time from the church to the party, and I had it in a cold sack, so it was perfect.
Doesn't this look absolutely yummy?
If you invite me to your party, you can bet I'll bring this dish.

Here's the Recipe (I doubled it)
2    mangoes, peeled, pitted, cut into 1/2" dice
1/2 medium red onion, cut into 1/2" dice (used 1 medium for doubling recipe)
4    green onions, including green tops, diced (I used 6 for doubling recipe)
2    tomatoes, cored, seeded, cut into 1/2" dice
1    jalapeño chile, seeds and ribs removed, finely minced (I just used chili's minced)
1    cup fresh cilantro chopped
Juice of 1 large lemon (used 1 1/2 for doubling recipe)
Juice of 1 lime (used 1 large for doubling recipe)
2    T pure olive oil (I kept it at 2, even though I doubled the recipe)
1    tsp kosher salt

In a medium bowl, combine mangoes, red and green onions, tomatoes, jalapeño, and cilantro.  In a measuring cup, stir together the lemon and lime juices, oil, and salt.  Stir until the salt is dissolved.  Pour over the mango mixture, and blend together.  Cover, and let chill in the frig.  If you are in a hurry, you can let it chill and set for at least an hour before eating.  It is best after setting 8-hours though.  Yum!

Also, I made some tortilla chips.  Just cut up some tortilla shells, brush with vegetable oil, some coriander, salt, and some sesame and poppy seeds.  Everything to your own taste.  Bake at 400 for 5 minutes, flip over for another 5.  Perfection!

De-lish-cious!

Wednesday Wish List!

THIS, is what I want to be wearing in the afternoon, this weekend, while walking through some small beach towns, taking in the shops and sitting at the outdoor restaurants getting a bite to eat, sipping on a cool drink!  A nice strong drink, because I deserve that martini this weekend, honey!

Just chillaxing the day away.  Ahhhh...sounds nice, doesn't it?

Meet me there.

A Liebster Award, me?

What the heck is a Liebster? I know it means "dearest/beloved", in German.  Awww, sweet.  Yeah, I had to look that up. It's about listing 11 random facts about yourself, and answering 11 random questions from the person who sends them to you. In this case Jules, from My Mom's A Whack Job. She's hysterical by the way, you must go to her blog! I'm so thrilled Jules likes my blog enough to spread the word and nominate me. Thank you, thank you Jules.

The award is geared toward up and coming bloggers, usually with 200 or less followers.  That's me, that's me!! (As I raise my hand jumping out of my seat.)

Anyway, then you get to pick 11 bloggers, with 200 or less followers, to nominate the award and have them list 11 random facts about themselves, and give them 11 random questions. How fun is that!  Wait, is this where blogging gets weird?  Who makes this stuff up?  Oh well, let's go along with it, for coffee with sugar.  (Can I say " for shits & giggles"?)

So, my 11 random facts about me-self:

1.  I'm the only sibling of five, with green eyes, got them from my daddy :)
2.  I'm terrified of heights
3.  I loathe winter
4.  I'm obsessed with ALL the Bravo Housewives Reality Shows!
5.  While I run, I repeat one song I particularly like over and over, while pretending I'm a singer on a small stage, while also having a guest appearance, Blake! (Yes, I really told you that!) Hey, it helps time pass quickly, and I forget to question why I'm running.
6.  My son turning 30 in August, bothers me more than when I turned 50
7.  I love listening to thunder
8.  I wash my hair twice per week. NO, it's not gross, dry shampoo ladies! My hair is too curly & frizzy.
9.  I love going to the movies
10. I have a fear of driving on major highways. Even though I used to drive in NYC, to OKC & FL, several times!
11. I love sending real postal mail to my special peeps

Answering the 11 questions from Jules:

1.  What word do you use all the time and in what context? Crazy. Like, "that's crazy".  I use it a lot.
2.  Name one thing you did that made you proud of yourself this week. I cleaned out some office clutter.
3.  What is your favorite place to hang out with your girlfriends? I have near by girlfriends, and states away girlfriends, so any place would be my favorite as long as it's time with them.
4.  What is the last text message you received say?  "That's fun" Who was it from? My cutie stepdaughter.
5.  What was the oddest thing you ate as a kid? One bite of liver.  Gross, right?  Who cooks liver, mom?? Ew.
6.  What nickname does only your family or close friends call you? Aunt Wonders.  My nephew started it when he told me how wonderful he thought I was.  Yeah, I'm down like that :)
7.  Do people tell you that you act older, younger, or your age? Hhmmm, I guess younger, since I'm told I look younger.  (Hubster says all 3, in a good way. Yeah, like he'd say anything other to my face.)
8.  Ever been skinny dipping? Not that I remember....ha.
9.  Do you wear pajamas to places other than at your house? I have only in my car, giving rides.
10. What sound or noise do you love? Several, the frogs on a warm summer night, birds in the early morning, and the leaves rustling on the trees on a cool Fall day.
11. Ever had an imaginary friend as a child? Ooooh yes.  I had my own real imaginary Tinkerbell.  She also had a birdhouse in my imaginary world, to live in.  Shhh, don't tell anyone.

My 11 nominated peeps(If you have more than 200 followers, my apologies, I probably couldn't figure out where to find the number. You can skip this fun task, or run with it!)

Okay that seemed easy, until I got to the last 2 or 3!

My 11 questions for my 11 nominated peeps:

1.  Do you still live in the town you grew up in?
2.  Where is the furthest you've ever traveled?
3.  Bratt Pitt or Ben Affleck?
4.  Have you ever met a celebrity and conversed with them? (not just a sighting or wave)
5.  What is the strangest talent you have?
6.  If you had the chance, what would you change about yourself?
7.  What is your favorite movie?
8.  What food, (not dessert) could you eat every single day for dinner?
9.  Do you think you are a good driver?
10. What was your favorite toy when you were little?
11. How many hours per day, do you blog? (write, read, and comment)

It is really hard trying to find bloggers with less than 200 followers.  Let's give these peeps some support, including me :) These are all great bloggers, they each have something special for all of us.  Thanks for reading this long blog.  It was worth it thought, right?!!

Blog Stalking Sundays, #8!

Hey, hey, hey,  it's BSS time! I am very excited to share the blog peeps I've been stalking.  I've been stalking them a long time now, and I owe them these shout-outs.  No doubt about it. I'll explain why as I go along and introduce you.

My first special gal is Tiffany...

This here, is a special gal to me.  Yes, she designs blogs and helped me with mine. Yes, I'm pushing her on you!  Well, only because she is the cutest, and the most patient and so very sweet to work with kind of gal.  I am so happy I had the opportunity to work with her and thankful for all the help she gave me.  After having a cool website (that became overwhelming), you'd think I'd know what to do on a blog, right?  Well, I did and I didn't.  I just didn't want to think that hard anymore, haha.  I just wanted to do the fun part.  Tiffany did all the hard work, and she did good!  I can't say enough about her.  If you are looking to start a blog, or just freshen it up, Tiffany is your gal.  Her waiting list fills up fast, better get there!  She has a personal blog as well.  Drop by and say "hi"!

The gal I think a lot of is Brittany...

This young lady sent me my very first Cara Box.  It was the first time for both of us.  (The Cara Box, okay!!) We got to know each other through a lot of correspondence, and I find her to be such a sweetheart!  She has an "attitude of gratitude", and don't let her tell you any different ;-)  Check out her site and see her cute family and the cutest little guy!  Brittany has lots to share, don't miss it!

My third shout-out is a new blogger, of whom I'd like to think is a personal friend of mine...
This is Robin.  She's cute, funny (just look at her photo!) and she's a runner.  Robin is a new runner, over the past couple of years (or more?), and she's rockin' the pavement!  Her dedication to running shames me :(  I've given up on the long runs, nothing past 10-miles anymore, but Robin never gives up.  I admire her self-discipline, and I am honored to have given her some inspiration in starting her new blog called, Crazy Little Thing Called Run. Even her blog name is cute.  Please visit Robin, and welcome her to the blogosphere!

So that's it, peeps!  My shout-outs to this weeks Blog Stalking Sundays!  As usual, always having fun stalking for my Monday's.

Tell me who you are stalking lately, I'd love to stalk some newbies!

Happy Monday!

Birch Box #2

I know it seems as if I've received dozens of boxes, but I've only received a total of 9.  Since May.  Not too crazy, right?  Of each box I do receive, I haven't hit the 3rd one yet.  I figure if I haven't loved at least 2 out of the 3, I end the subscription. After all, I do want to like the products, and they want me to buy the full size.  Right now I'm just promoting them, without any compensation.  Although, that would be nice :)

Other blogs I've read that post their boxes, seem to like the products.  Believe me, I want to love them all as well, but that's not going to happen.  Everyone is different.

Let me move on here without too much more blibber-blabber.

BIRCH BOX #2

Benta Berry  A moisturizing facial cream.  The problem here, is anything with a fragrance, kills me.  Being a skincare-snob, I'm always reading the products and want a "less ingredients is more" attitude.  'No fragrance' is a must.  The moisturizer went on nice, had a mild smell - but then it became stronger.  I couldn't wear this all day if I tried.

Birch Box Bobby Pin Really cute white and (my favorite) green design. Definitely using these fun pins.
Girl Meets Pearl Benefit brand product, skin highlighter.  It has too much sparkle for the face for me, so I would use it on my shoulders for an evening out.
Nourishing Body Cream 100% Pure brand.  I haven't opened this yet.  There was too much perfume smell on me already, so I had to wash that off and then forgot about trying the cream.  Although, it sound delicious.  I'm thinking it could be a good product with the 100% vegetarian and natural.
Super Comb Prep & Protect Number 4 brand, for the face.  (Never heard of it) It's free of sulfates, yay! I can always use a leave-in conditioner.  Especially small enough to fit into my purse, and spritz whenever.  I have such curly long hair, with the triple-H factor  (humidity hating hair), I'll be as happy as a baby in a swaddle, if this helps!
Would you try any of these products, or do you use any of them already?

Happy Friday my blogging peeps xo

Veggie Mix and fixin's

Veggie mixin's and Zucchini bites!

I made the yummiest random put-together dish the other night.  I had many vegetables that had to be cooked before they went bad.  There is nothing worse than having food in your refrigerator, that you can't get to cooking it all and everything goes to waste.  I avoid that at all costs!  So I made this vegetable medley, and it came out delicious!
I took half of a medium onion, with an 1/8 tsp of crushed garlic, and caramelized them slowly with low-sodium vegetable juice.

I added two sliced and quartered zucchini.
Added a medium eggplant, cubed.
Approximately 3 cups of green beans, steamed.
Fresh mushrooms, apprx 5 medium, any kind will do.
A bunch of cherry tomatoes, halved and/or quartered.

I cook the zucchini first (after the caramelizing), since that may take longer to soften. Although I don't cook it until it's translucent.  I like it to have a substantial consistency.

As I saute, I add the vegetable juice little by little.  Just to keep things from drying an burning.
These came out so good!  Nothing like cooking up some veggies and flavoring themselves. I don't add much spice, only fresh black pepper and maybe some tumeric.
This was my (our) main dish, along with a side of...these!

Zucchini Bites
I had plenty of zucchini that needed to be cooked.  So I took 2-more and sliced them about 1/4" thick.  I threw then into a bag, with 1-T of olive oil, added 1/2-c parmesan cheese, 1/4-tsp of black pepper, and 3/4-c of panko bread crumbs.  Any plain or flavored crumbs will do. Once they were coated, I put them onto a sheet (with foil), placed in a pre-heated 400 degree oven, for 20-25 minutes.  Yum!

Added note: You don't have to flip the bites, just put foil on your sheet and bake!

So, you can see in the photo above on the left, as they were, before placed into the oven.
Uh-hum (as I clear my throat), on the right, is that...after they were cooked.  Do you see something missing there?  Of course you do, that would be my son, liking these zucchini bites.  Very much so.
I should be ever so thankful that they were that good.  They really were.

The very next night was a 'what should we have', evening.  Don't you get tired of cooking dinner every night, sometimes?  Just trying to think, each night, what to make?  I do.  If it's just me and the hubster, I can get away with something extra healthy, easy and quick.  On this night I took the left over veggie mix, and added a flavor  ~ the red pepper Raw Muhammara Dip that I have made before!  This turned out so moist and yummy.  The eggplant really adds a nice sweet taste to things.  Especially if it's sautéed a bit.

I could eat a bowl of this stuff, as a good hearty meal!  Instead, I put this into a new flat bread I stumbled upon at the grocery store.  It was actually intended for something else, but I can't even remember now.  Either way, it sure did work well with this mixture.

This flax, bran, wheat flat bread was thin and delicious!  I would definitely try it again.  I purchased it at a Giant Food Store near me.  I heated the vegetable mixture, and using a flat frying pan, with raised bars like a panini pan, crusted the bread just right.  YUMMY! They were perfect.

After drinking green smoothies all day, some fruit and other raw foods, this ends the evening nicely.  Fulfilling and satisfying.  Sometimes an unplanned meal night, ends up one of perfection!

What are you cooking up lately?

Wednesday Wish List!

It's the WWL time of the week, once again!  Love, love, love this day.  I'm trying something different this week, putting an entire outfit together that I would personally wear.

I'm thinking of the beach, and all the dresses and accessories a girl could have fun with.  Things that can be worn anywhere, anytime.  I would wear this outfit in the afternoon for lunch with the girls, or on a warm evening at dinner near the beach, with the hubster.  This is a great put-together outfit to take a stroll, in your favorite little town.  I have a couple in mind near me, when not at the beach.

Evening at the beach

Stripe maxi dress / Old Navy wedge sandals / Imitation handbag / Bangle bracelet, $21 / GUESS by Marciano hoop earrings / GUESS plastic glasses / Butter London

Black and white are my favorite, but I like to incorporate a pop of color for a little excitement.  Pink, is my all time fun color, in pretty much anything.

Even with all the handbags and clutches I have, I really need this clear clutch!  I've been wanting one for the longest time.

I'm still really liking the maxi's (for the third year in a row, I haven't tired of them) and the chevron pattern is one I don't have, but need to get.

Wearing the maxi with a little wedge flip-flop is a must for me!  I live in my flip flops. Someday I'll have to take a photo of my dozens upon dozens. I have soooo many shoes I don't wear, because flips are so much easier to throw on, and to walk in. By the time I want to wear heels, I forget how :) Who am I kidding!  It's like getting back on the horse.

What are your thoughts on my evening dinner & stroll fashion?
